Iglesias, R.; Moñivas, E. (2026) Entrevista sobre las entrevistas realizadas al artista entrevistado: un diálogo a partir de experiencias previas y algunas reflexiones entrelazadas.

“Esther Moñivas: Today is May 30, 2025. We are interviewing the artist Ricardo Iglesias, or rather, we are both developing a dialogue on different levels and through different media simultaneously (WhatsApp messages, emails, exchange of text documents, audio recordings), with the aim of reflecting together and gathering some ideas about the practical experience of the interviews between artists and conservator-restorers in which we have participated in recent years. Perhaps, to contextualize our relationship, we should begin by pointing out that we have known each other since 2020, we are fellow professors and researchers at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UCM, and I believe we have maintained almost weekly contact since then. So, perhaps we can say that we are friends.

This collaborative and interdisciplinary book has as its main purpose to offer an innovative perspective on the methodology of interviewing artists for conservation purposes, addressing the relational dimension inherent in the documentation of contemporary art. through a series of historiographical, epistemological, methodological, ethical, and practical reflections.

The publication is the result of the project “Between Artists and Restorers: New Formats of Interaction and Knowledge Exchange,” developed from 2020 to 2025 at the Complutense University of Madrid. It falls within the field of Arts and Humanities and has received support from the US organization Voices in Contemporary Art (VoCA) as well as funding from the UCM’s Vice-Rectorate for Quality.
