Utopian/dystopian environments in the narrative structure of video games

A fundamental point in the aesthetic and interactive idiosyncrasy of video games is the creation of gaming environments, spaces for intervention, discovery and adventure, architectural frameworks or alternative universes. Creations that evoke the past, update the present or visualize the future. Utopian or dystopian metaverses where we experience new social relationships, or we contribute to the creation of egalitarian cities, or we confront our fears, or oppressive systems of power and control, or we fight against dysfunctional social schemes, or against savagely oppressive subspecies, etc.
